New prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Iran

During the visit of the delegation of the Government and business circles of Uzbekistan, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade S. Umurzakov met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi in Tehran.

During the event, the sides exchanged views on a wide range of Uzbek-Iranian relations aimed at trade, economic, investment, transport and logistics, as well as cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

As parties noted, there are broad prospects for investment cooperation, which is evidenced by the growing number of joint projects with Iranian investors, as well as the growing interest of the Iranian business community in the Uzbek market and economic resources. During the forthcoming 14th meeting of the Uzbek-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation, it is planned to sign agreements on the implementation of a number of new investment projects.

Tasks have been set to intensify industrial cooperation between Uzbek and Iranian entrepreneurs. Agro-industry, water resources management, construction materials production, ferrous metallurgy, machinery, light industry and medicine have been identified as priority areas of cooperation.
Prospects for the establishment of industrial cooperation between the special economic zones, in particular, Chabahar, Aras (Iran) and the "Navoi" and "Angren" (Uzbekistan) FEZs were also highlighted.
