New schoolbooks tested at school No 134 in the capital

The head of our state reviewed an exhibition of modern textbooks titled "Improving the quality of education - the only true path to development of the New Uzbekistan".

Science, education, upbringing - it is the cornerstone of development, the power that multiplies the strength of the country, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said. Therefore, all elements of this sphere are being radically reformed and comprehensively developed. The development of education and human capital has been defined as the fourth priority of the Development Strategy of Uzbekistan. A logical continuation of this work was the announcement of 2023 as the "Year of Concern for a Person and High-Quality Education" in our country.

An important factor in improving the quality of education and instilling an interest in knowledge in children is, above all, the availability of quality textbooks. The Concept for the Development of the National Education System until 2030, approved by decree of our Head of State on 29 April 2019, sets out the tasks of improving teaching methods. Accordingly, work has been carried out over the last three years to update textbooks. Textbooks for grades 1-4 have been redesigned by a special working group on the basis of advanced foreign methodologies.

The head of our country was informed of the contents of these textbooks at the exhibition. They have been developed on the basis of the 4K principle - critical thinking, creativity, cooperation and communication - skills most useful for a person in the 21st century. That is, the textbooks are designed to teach students how to think critically, think creatively, work in teams and communicate.

In preparing the new textbooks, model tasks from international programmes such as PISA, PIRLS, TIMSS, EGMA, and EGRA were used as a basis. Alongside the textbooks, workbooks and teachers' guides have been developed. The Estudy e-learning platform has also been integrated into the system. It can be used both in the classroom and in free time.

The presented new generation textbooks have undergone an international expert evaluation and have also been tested in school No 134 in the capital. Preliminary results have shown that 88 per cent of students have achieved 88 per cent success with the new textbooks, compared to 67 per cent with the current curriculum.
