New start in Samarkand International Airport

From December 10, domestic and international flights will be resumed from Samarkand International Airport which was reported by the Information Service of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
"Currently, the construction of a new runway complex, including a new runway 3105 m long and 60 m wide, new runways for 24 aircraft and an apron, has been completed," the report informed.
“The airport complex is equipped with modern energy-saving light signaling appliance and a planting system that complies with the second category of IKAO,” the company mentioned.
The construction of the airport complex is underway. It was scheduled to end this fall.
Samarkand Airport was built in 1967. In 2022, the Samarkand summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization decided to restructure it. Construction of the new terminal will be carried out by “Enter Engineering” which will be operated by the foreign company “Air Marakand”
