Number of Japan-Uzbekistan Parliamentary Friendship League members reaches 41

Uzbek Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov held a meeting with Taro Aso, chairman of the Japan-Central Asia Parliamentary Friendship League, and members of the League, who were in Tokyo to attend the meeting of the Central Asia + Japan Dialogue.

Delivering a speech at the meeting, Foreign Minister Norov said the Uzbek side viewed the League's establishment as a sign of growing importance of Central Asia in Japan's foreign policy.

It was stressed that a high level of mutual trust and understanding has been established between Uzbekistan and Japan. Efficient mechanisms of cooperation between political, business, scientific and academic circles have been established.

A trend has been noted towards intensifying inter-parliamentary exchanges. The number of members of the Japanese Parliamentary Friendship League with Uzbekistan rose to 41. Narov invited Taro Aso to Uzbekistan to attend the regular session of the Uzbek-Japanese inter-parliamentary forum.

A proposal to organise the first Central Asia-Japan inter-parliamentary forum in Samarkand was voiced.
