One citizen of Uzbekistan killed in earthquake, four missing

Representatives of the Uzbek Ministry for Emergency Situations, sent to the Republic of Turkey in accordance with the order of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to eliminate the consequences of the earthquake, began search and rescue operations in the village of Ovakent in Hatay region, where more than 10,000 ethnic Uzbeks live.
This was reported by the Uzbek Foreign Ministry.
The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Ankara and Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Istanbul take measures to move citizens of our country from the disaster areas to safe places and return them to their homeland.
In particular, members of the Uzbek national team that took part in the international freestyle wrestling competition among youth under 20 years old on February 3-6 in Kahramanmarash, have been temporarily accommodated in an educational institution in Ankara with the support of the Turkish side. The issue of their return to Uzbekistan is currently being worked out.
As of 10 a.m. (Tashkent time) on February 7, 2023, it became known that one citizen of Uzbekistan died as a result of the earthquake in Malatya province.
In addition, four of our compatriots are missing. Search and rescue operations are under way to establish their whereabouts.
