Ortikkhojaev retains his immunity as deputy and senator

Former Tashkent Hokim Jahangir Orikhojaev has retained his position as a deputy and senator of the Tashkent City Council. Senator and council deputy have immunity during their terms, according to the law. The senator and council deputy cannot be held criminally liable, incarcerated or subjected to administrative punishment by the courts without the consent of the Senate and the Council.
He is also a member of the Upper House Budget and Economic Reforms Committee and the Council's Commission on the Formation, Selection, Appointment and Dismissal of Executive Reserves.
In January 2020, Jahangir Ortikhojaev was elected first as a councillor and then as a senator for a five-year term from the UzLiDep party in the 48th constituency. His term runs until January 2025.
The senator and council member cannot be held criminally liable, deprived of liberty, imprisoned or subjected to administrative punishment in a court of law without the consent of the Senate and Council in the respective territory.
The Council of People's Deputies decides on the deprivation of a deputy's immunity within 10 days upon the submission of the city prosecutor or a higher prosecutor. A submission from the Procurator-General's Office is required in order to deprive a senator of immunity.
A submission from the Procurator-General's Office for consent to criminal prosecution, deprivation of liberty or the imposition of an administrative penalty imposed by a court of law must be made by the Senate at its session and, between sessions of the Senate, by its Council.
It is noted that the Ukrainian Council of People's Deputies and the Senate said that they had not yet received any submissions from the prosecutor's office. The press service of the Prosecutor-General's Office said that the Prosecutor-General's Office had not made such a submission.
