Our forefathers and foremothers created this culture, putting a piece of their soul into it - Shavkat Mirziyoyev

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visits Oltin ipak karvonsaroyi tourist centre in the city of Margilan.
The atmosphere and lifestyle of old Uzbek houses have been created here. Carpet weaving, embroidery, copper crafts and other workshops are located on the ground floor of the complex. Tourists can watch how national handicrafts are made and buy them.
A traditional-style caravanserai with 30 seats has been organized on the first floor. The complex is going to be able to serve over 10 thousand tourists a year.
The Head of State thanked the artisans for continuing the development of folk crafts and attention towards the youth.
"In this age of high technology, you miss such simple, sincere places. Our fathers and mothers created these crafts, this culture, investing not only their labour but also a part of their souls. At one time crafts were on the verge of extinction. Thank you for preserving them. We need not only to promote our culture among foreign visitors, but also to involve our children in it," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
The President supported the masters' proposal to teach folk crafts in schools. Recommendations were given to decision-makers to raise the potential of tourism and the effective use of cinematography for its promotion.
Last year Margilan was awarded the status of the "World City of Silk and Ikat Craftsmen". The cities of Bukhara (for gold embroidery) and Kokand (for woodcarving) have also been awarded the same status.
