President congratulates Azerbaijani leader on his birthday

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held telephone conversation with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on December 24. At the outset of conversation the head of our state cordially congratulated the leader of Azerbaijan on his birthday, and wished him good health, wellbeing and new successes, as well as peace and prosperity to the brotherly people of Azerbaijan.

It has been noted with deep satisfaction that owing to the regular and fruitful dialogue at the highest level, the Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations in strategic partnership and multilayered cooperation have been developing dynamically in all areas.

Thus, trade turnover has grown by 50 percent since the beginning of this year. Practical cooperation projects are underway, including in energy sector, automobile manufacturing, cotton-textile and silkworm clusters, construction materials and other produce. A joint investment fund is being set up to back promising cooperation projects.

The heads of state stressed the importance of building up the portfolio of direct trade contracts and long-term investment agreements. It has been stressed that a delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan is visiting Baku these days to agree on measures to accelerate the implementation of cooperation projects. The telephone conversation between the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan was held in a traditionally warm, open and friendly atmosphere.
