Presidents examine exposition on Abay's heritage

Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kasym-Jomart Tokayev traveled to an exposition in the framework of exhibition dedicated to the heritage of great Kazakh poet and thinker Abay Kunanbayev today.

Abay's creative work is a true encyclopedia of life, work and aspirations of the Kazakh people. By his poetry, wise aphorisms and thoughts collected in unique book of teachings "Gakliya", one can get a clear idea of life of Kazakh steppe in last decades of XIX century.

The leaders of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan familiarized themselves with unique exhibits from the funds of Kazakh museums, historical documents, photographs and books related to life and work of Abai Kunanbaev.

In particular, they were shown a three-stringed dombra, which is Abay's mascot, and Kunanbay's skullcap, manuscripts of poet, and photographs of Abay and his family.

Having viewed the exhibition, the heads of state expressed their gratitude to everyone who had contributed to the preparation of this important event in the cultural life of both countries. The sides stressed that such events strengthen our friendly bonds and brightly demonstrate the inexhaustible interest of the Uzbek people in the history of fraternal Kazakhstan.

It is worth noting that cultural events dedicated to the heritage of Abay Kunanbaev are currently underway across the country.
