Primary health care is to prevent diseases

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited family health clinic No.22 in Uchtepa district of Tashkent on October 26.

This three-story modern facility serves 56,000 residents of 19 mahallas. Necessary conditions have been created in the children's ward, physiotherapy department, day hospital, specialized rooms and laboratories. In accordance with the instruction given in the open dialogue with medical workers on March 18 of this year, modern medical equipment was installed in the polyclinic.

Rooms for free distribution of medicines and examination before doctor's appointment have also been opened. The staff consists of 65 doctors and many nurses.

The Head of State toured the conditions of the clinic and spoke to the personnel.

"Medicine is the biggest state service, which is for everyone, young and old. That is why we pay constant attention to this direction. We try to make primary care closer to the people. Of course, there are changes: new hospitals are opening, polyclinics are being equipped. But there are still families that are not covered. We need to ensure that qualified medical services reach every family, and, at the same time, pay special attention to socially vulnerable people," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The issues of improving the medical culture of the population and disease prevention were discussed at the meeting.

"In many cases the disease is caused by the person himself: low mobility, improper diet, inattention to one's health. Primary health care should widely explain this. The health of the population should not be strengthened with medicines, but with prevention. People should pay more attention to their health and get regular screenings," the head of our state said.

Special vehicles used for field examinations were inspected here as well.
