Priority areas on developing service scope

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a video conference on 14 December to canvass the effectiveness of the work being done to develop the services sector and future priorities.

On May 11, 2021, the President adopted a resolution "On measures to accelerate the development of the services sector." It is planned to make the industry a requisite driver and double the volume of services by 2023.

On September 30, another crucial document was adopted: the Presidential Decree "On Additional Measures to Support the Services Sector," which extended privileges for public catering, commerce, tourism, and transportation during the pandemic. The issues raised during the discussions with entrepreneurs have been handled.

This year, 29,000 projects totaling 18 trillion UZS were completed, and the services sector grew by 20%. Proliferation was, however, marginal in five districts and cities. In general, the population's level of service remains poor.
Hence, the meeting discussed the development of the service sector, the use of untapped opportunities.

The head of our state stressed the need for a separate approach to each region and provided specific examples. On the basis of the population, geographical location and economic potential of districts and cities, 3 directions have been identified.

The first objective is to enhance the service sector in each of the 158 districts.

The second goal is to establish contemporary market services in 29 medium and large cities and 6 districts with populations of more than 300,000 people.

A particular program for the growth of high-income services in Tashkent, Samarkand, and Namangan is scheduled to be implemented in the third direction.

The topics addressed during the meeting were also briefed to officials.
