Public oversight of the internal affairs agencies

A presidential decree on additional measures to transform the internal affairs agencies into a people's professional structure and orient their work towards closer interaction with the public has been adopted.

This document approved the Code of Professional Culture and Discipline of the Internal Affairs Officers. It seeks to achieve true public satisfaction through the education of officers in the spirit of the principle "For honour and human dignity".

The Code regulates:

—the rules of professional culture in the internal affairs agencies;
—requirements of service discipline;
—relations between supervisors and employees;
—procedure for appealing against the actions of superiors.

For reference, the following disciplinary measures may be imposed on staff:

—warning;
—reprimand;
—severe reprimand;
—fine of not more than 50 per cent of their official salary;
—demotion of one grade in a special grade;
—demotion from office;
—apprehension and confinement in the brig;
—dismissal from the service of the internal affairs agencies.
