Regular rounds of Italy-Central Asia dialogue

Today, 4 January, acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov held a regular meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic Agostino Pinna. During the conversation, topical issues of Uzbek-Italian agenda were discussed.

Proposals on the timing and agenda of upcoming rounds of joint events at various levels, in particular, political consultations between foreign ministries and forms of Italy-Central Asia dialogue were considered.

The sides stressed the importance of developing dialogue between the legislative bodies of the two countries, organising reciprocal visits of parliamentarians and expanding the activity of inter-parliamentary friendship groups.

Special emphasis was placed on intensifying economic diplomacy in the course of negotiations. The two sides expressed interest in expanding trade and economic cooperation, implementing joint investment projects, increasing exports of Uzbek goods to Italian market. Views have been exchanged on the enhancement of relations in cultural and humanitarian and educational sectors.

An agreement has been reached to boost cooperation between the foreign affairs ministries of Uzbekistan and Italy.
