"At home, at work, in kindergarten, at school and on the street, people must be taught to appreciate energy and save it. It is necessary to fix these issues in our laws," the President said.

At the same time the use of small-scale renewable energy sources will sharply increase.

"For example, if the Almalyk and Bekabad Combine and other large enterprises install solar power plants with a capacity of 1,000 megawatts in Tashkent region for their needs, 2.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity will be generated annually.

This would cover about 30 percent of Tashkent Oblast's electricity consumption and save 500 million cubic metres of gas.

Similarly, other regions must make their own calculations and define their specific plans for the coming year.

In doing so, each district and city khokim should implement renewable-energy projects on their territory with a capacity of 5-10 megawatts in households and businesses," Mirziyoyev said.
