Roadmap of Uzbek-British Trade and Industry Council signed

The 26th session of the Uzbek-British Trade and Industry Council (UBTIC) was held on November 30 this year in Tashkent with participation of heads of ministries and agencies of the two countries, as well as heads of about 70 leading companies, financial institutions and universities of Great Britain.
Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Badriddin Abidov welcomed the participants of the event and highlighted the positive dynamics of the Uzbek-British trade and economic and investment cooperation. The number of enterprises with British capital in Uzbekistan has increased to 338 in recent years, including 215 joint ventures and 123 firms with 100% British capital.
The constructive nature of system reforms in the country, the consistent and intensive work on Uzbekistan's accession to WTO, as well as the active support of the British side for Uzbekistan's accession to this organization were highlighted. The government's full readiness to fully support the activities of foreign investors was emphasized. The participating heads of British companies were invited to actively cooperate with Uzbek partners.
In turn, UK Trade Commissioner for Eastern Europe and Central Asia - Consul General in Istanbul Kenan Poleo and Director General of the UK Foreign Trade Department Andrew Mitchell emphasized in their speeches the importance of annual meetings of the UBTIC as an effective platform for discussion of opportunities to promote and increase bilateral trade and investment.
The Uzbek-British Trade and Industry Council resulted in the signing of eight bilateral documents in the areas of trade, textiles, mining, environmental protection, education and culture, as well as a joint UBTIC Roadmap for 2023.
