Sanctions against Russia will have a bigger impact on global GDP - David Malpass

World Bank President David Malpass believes that sanctions against Russia will have a greater impact on global GDP than a Russian special operation to demilitarize Ukraine.

Malpass considered that the situation in Ukraine will lead to "immediate impact in the short term" on the global economy.

"I think that the sanctions against Russia themselves have an even greater impact on global GDP," Malpass said.
The head of the World Bank, however, noted that other countries will be able to quickly recover from the cessation of the supply of Russian energy resources and food from the Russian Federation and Ukraine. In particular, in his opinion, the agricultural sector of other countries can "adapt in a year or so."
