Secretary General of the Turkic Council took part in a high-level online meeting of International Organizations dedicated to overcoming the impact of the pandemic

On March 15, 2021, Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreev took part in a high-level consultative meeting of the secretaries general of regional international organizations on the impact of the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Organized by the International Road Transport Union (IRU) in a virtual format, the meeting brought together the Secretary General of the IRU Umberto de Pretto, the Turkic Council of Baghdad Amreev, the Permanent Secretariat of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission (PS IGC TRACECA) Aset Assavbaev, the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation B. Christidis Michael , and the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) of Hadi Soleimanpur.

During the meeting, the Parties discussed the efforts being made by their respective organizations in the fight against the global pandemic, as well as the measures they are currently taking in the field of transport during the crisis, and elaborated on practical ways to overcome the difficulties that their states are currently facing. - members in the carriage of goods.

At this meeting, Secretary General V. Amreev made a speech and shared the latest achievements of the Turkic Council in the transport and related sectors, including the creation of a "Task Force" at the level of deputy ministers of transport, economy, trade and customs to promptly resolve emerging issues and effectively coordinate transport and logistics during a pandemic, ongoing efforts to improve the efficiency of green corridors and develop a single registered list of vital goods to facilitate their smooth movement, and digitize customs and border crossing procedures through the implementation of the eTIR and ePermit Pilot Projects among member countries.

ECO Secretary General Hadi Soleimanpour shared his opinion on the possibility of creating economic and "virus-free" corridors as effective steps to overcome the negative consequences of the global pandemic for the economies of the region, and also noted the importance of a regular network between international organizations to enhance cooperation and improve coordination.

The parties also exchanged views on the progress in the implementation of recovery measures by the governments and touched upon the future steps that they will need to take in the transport sector to overcome the economic consequences of the pandemic as soon as possible.

Following the meeting, the heads of international organizations published a Joint Statement as the final document of the event.
