Seoul and Tashkent connected

The two online events were organized by domestic departments together with South Korean partners.
Information: By October 1 of this year, the total amount of investments from South Korea to Uzbekistan reached $ 7 billion, 863 enterprises with South Korean capital operate in our country. This state is one of the most important trade and economic partners of the republic. For 8 months from the beginning of 2020, trade between the countries exceeded $ 1.449 billion, and over the same period of 2019 - $ 1.8 billion.Export decreased from $ 64.7 to $ 29 million, imports - from $ 1.7 to 1.42 billion dollars.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan held a videoconference with the Korea Importers Association (KOIMA) with the support of our embassy there. KOIMA was opened 50 years ago by the decision of the government of the Country of Morning Freshness to unite importers, distributors and representatives of foreign countries. The republic was represented by the first persons of the CCI, the Korea-Central Asia Business Council and the embassy of Uzbekistan.
The event was opened by the head of the CCI Adkham Ikramov. He stressed that our states are linked by a time-tested and reliable partnership, which is progressively developing in many directions, including the priority economic one. This is facilitated by the personal initiatives and efforts of the leaders of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea. The participants were told about promising areas of interaction and expansion of trade.
The video conference was also organized by the diplomatic mission of our country at the Korean-Uzbek Business Center in the city of Incheon. First Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Laziz Kudratov, Deputy Minister of Energy Sherzod Khodzhaev, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Geology and Mineral Resources Azam Kadyrkhodzhaev, Deputy Khokim of Navoi Region Kamoliddin Khasanov got in touch. The partner side was represented by the chairman of the Shindong Resources company and the Korean-Uzbek Business Association Kim Gu, his deputy in the association Kim Chang Keon, the head of its representative office Yun Jong Suk and others.
Negotiations were held to speed up the implementation of the project to create a metallurgical cluster at the Southbai site in the Navoi region. It will be a single complex for the extraction, processing of raw materials and the production of goods from it for export. The proposals of the South Korean companies have been formed and submitted to our side for evaluation. We talked about the formation of the external infrastructure of the project and tax rates for the use of mineral resources, agreed on joint measures and other issues.
