Shanghai Cooperation Organization Samarkand Summit: Dialogue and Cooperation in an Interdependent World

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's article titled "Samarkand Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization: Dialogue and Cooperation in an Interdependent World" was published in the prestigious newspapers and internet publications of our country and a number of leading foreign countries.
Uzbekistan's chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has coincided with a unique period of "historical evolution" in which intense processes are taking place on a global scale - one historical period is coming to an end and a new one, which is difficult to predict, is beginning.
It is today's reality that the system of international cooperation based on universal principles and norms is slipping away. One of the main reasons for this is the deep deterioration of mutual trust between countries at the global level. This, in turn, encourages geopolitical confrontations and creates the risk of rebirth of stereotypes of "belonging to blocs". Such a process of mutual mistrust between countries complicates the return of the world economy to the previous path of development and the restoration of global supply chains.
Ongoing armed conflicts in different parts of the world disrupt trade and investment flows and exacerbate food and energy security problems.
At the same time, global climate change, increasing scarcity of natural resources and water resources, damage to biodiversity and the spread of dangerous infectious diseases are showing the weaknesses of our societies even more clearly. These problems lead to the erosion of common values and blessings that are directly related to the fate of mankind, threaten people's lives and activities, reduce their sources of income.
In such a complex environment, one fact is clear: no country can avoid or eliminate these global threats alone.
In today's interconnected world, the only way out of dangerous problems is constructive dialogue and multilateral cooperation based on taking into account and respecting the interests of each party. It is in times of crises and crises that countries, whether they are large, medium or small, should not put their narrow interests first, but rather focus on global solidarity. It is equally beneficial for all of us to unite and mobilize common efforts and capabilities against the threats and dangers that threaten peace, security and sustainable development of any country.
