Shavkat Mirziyoyev: «The number of ministries and agencies will be reduced from 61 to 28»

"Many ministers change. The minister who knows his job deeply, works unselfishly and whose work the people are satisfied with will remain in office. I think this approach will be fair," the President said.

"At the first stage the ministries will be reformed and the method of work of the government will change drastically. First of all, the number of ministries and agencies will be reduced from the present 61 to 28. Now each ministry is responsible for the implementation of state policy in the relevant area and heads committees, agencies and inspectorates within the network," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

Also, "the number of civil servants will gradually shrink by 25-30 percent. The savings will be used to address social issues. The political status of each minister and his or her accountability to the president, parliament and society will increase.

Responsibility will be increased accordingly. They will be given sufficient powers and funds to solve the problems of the population.

"Openness, legality, efficiency and quality will be the main criteria in the work of ministries," the head of state said.
