Shavkat Mirziyoyev receives ECO Secretary General

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Secretary General of Economic Cooperation Organization Khusrav Noziri on January 24.

Secretary General congratulated the head of our state on Uzbekistan's successful chairmanship in the Organization. It has been underscored that the important initiatives and activities undertaken in trade, economy, agriculture, energy, tourism and other fields have given a potent impetus to the development of practical interaction within the ECO.

During the meeting issues related to further strengthening of regional interconnection were discussed.

It was noted with delight that trade turnover between Uzbekistan and ECO nations has increased by 70 percent over the past years, while the number of joint ventures and projects has multiplied five-fold.

Comprehensive preparations are underway for the Organization's next summit in Tashkent in November this year.

The importance of thorough preparation of the agenda of the forthcoming event has been especially emphasized.

At the end of the meeting Secretary General Khusrav Noziri assured that the Secretariat is ready to work closely together to enhance multifaceted cooperation within the ECO framework.
