Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced that Afghanistan should manifest itself in a new peace mission

“Afghanistan, which has played the role of a buffer in global contradictions for centuries, should now manifest itself in a new peace mission, such as acting as a bridge connecting Central and South Asia,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev in an article titled “Samarkand summit of the Shanhai Cooperation Organization: dialogue and cooperation in the world of interconnection”.

“All SCO member states are our closest neighbors, friends and strategic partners. The chairmanship of the organization gave us good opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation with each state and to outline new directions for a more comprehensive partnership, while further strengthening multilateral cooperation with them,” the article says.

It is noted that the use of such a positive and successful experience, which was formed today within the framework of the SCO, is extremely important and relevant even in the matter of developing Afghanistan.

“Without a doubt, Afghanistan is considered an integral part of the SCO space. Today, the Afghan people need the support of neighboring and benevolent countries more than ever. It is our spiritual duty to lend Afghanistan a joint helping hand, promote the country's socio-economic development, integration into the processes of regional and global development, and thereby create favorable conditions for the exit of this state from the crisis of many years.

Afghanistan, which has played a buffer role in the confrontation between countries and regional power centers on a global scale for centuries, should now manifest itself in a new peace mission, such as acting as a bridge connecting Central and South Asia,” writes Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

It is noted that as a model symbol of such mutually beneficial interregional cooperation, it is possible to say the project for the construction of the Transafgan corridor. By jointly implementing joint infrastructure projects such as the Termez – Mazari Sharif – Kabul – Peshovar railway, it is possible to make a significant contribution to regional security, not only solving socio-economic and transport-communication tasks.

“I am confident that by bringing our positions closer, we will be able to jointly develop a new SCO agenda for a peaceful, stable and prosperous Afghanistan. Only then can we literally build a SCO space that is developing steadily and consistently, with holistic security,” the article says.
