Shavkat Mirziyoyev meets Hungarian President

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with President of Hungary Katalin Novák in Sándor Palace in Budapest. During the meeting, the presidents exchanged ideas on further expanding multilateral strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Hungary.
At the beginning of the meeting, the head of our state made an inscription in the Book of Honorary Guests, and the leaders were photographed together.
It has been noted during the meeting that bilateral cooperation has been developing intensively, political dialogue has been enhancing, mutual support continues, inter-parliamentary and public relations have been expanding. It was noted that the development of trade-economic and investment cooperation is priority.
The Uzbek-Hungarian intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation and Uzbek-Hungarian business council, which held its second session in Budapest on October 3, have been critical in bolstering the work in that direction. The sides noted that Uzbekistan's accession to European Union's GSP+ preferences system opens new opportunities for considerable increase and diversification of mutual trade.
Hungarian government has decided to increase annual quota of Uzbek students and doctoral candidates up to 170 students within Hungaricum programme. The sides considered it expedient to hold the second Forum of Rectors of Uzbek and Hungarian higher education institutions.
The heads of state exchanged views on pressing issues of international and regional significance, and discussed the continuation of an active dialogue and mutual support within multilateral frameworks.
At the end of the meeting, the President of Uzbekistan invited the Hungarian President to pay a visit to our country at a time of his convenience.
