Shavkat Mirziyoyev receives Secretary General of Organization of Turkic States

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Secretary General of Organization of Turkic States Kubanychbek Omuraliyev on January 24 in Tashkent city within the program of the regular meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization.
The meeting focused on the implementation of priority objectives of Uzbekistan's chairmanship of the Organization of Turkic States.
The Secretary General praised the outcome of the historic Samarkand summit, which opened a new chapter in the development of the Organization.
Agreements on trade and customs facilitation, creation of investment fund have been passed.
Samarkand has been declared the "Capital of Turkic Civilization". For the first time, the Alisher Navoi Prize was awarded.
Uzbekistan has also become a full member of the International Organization of Turkic Culture.
It has been noted with satisfaction that on the initiative of Uzbekistan the year 2023 has been proclaimed the Year of Turkic Civilization.
Particular attention has been paid to the chairmanship's priorities, which include institutional reform, creation of a "space of new economic opportunities", strengthening transport connectivity and strengthening cooperation in the field of food security.
At the end of the meeting, the Secretary General expressed his readiness to work closely together in order to realise the potential of cooperation within the Organization.
