Strengthen contacts in the region

Representatives of Uzbekistan took part in the XXVIII meeting of the Executive Committee and the XVIII General Assembly of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO CCI).

ECO is a regional interstate structure uniting ten countries: Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. ECO CCI is a specialized body for the development of trade and economic cooperation between the member states.

 The current event took place in the format of a video conference. Our republic was represented by the first deputy chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Islam Zhasimov, deputy chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Farizshokh Usmanov and other specialists.

 Chairman of the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Rifat Hisarchiklioglu stressed the importance of the meeting and the high level of its organization. It was noted that the CCI of Uzbekistan for the first time took part in the meeting of the executive committee in 2018, and for two years now the republic has been actively participating in the work of the ECO. This plays a role in enhancing investment cooperation.

The relevant work continues despite the difficulties caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Our country has established bilateral business councils with the CCIs of Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, and is organizing such structures with Iran, Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan. The main areas of interaction: strengthening trade, economic and investment contacts, supporting direct communication between small and private businesses, partnerships in the tourism, transport and communications sectors.

 The reports of the delegates were heard, including the results of the meetings of the specialized committees on trade facilitation, industry, investment and development of small and private business, transport, tourism, arbitration, as well as the Council of Women Entrepreneurs. The meeting was summed up by the adoption of the protocol of the event.
