Strengthening bilateral ties between the business communities of Uzbekistan and Ukraine

Business delegation of Ukraine headed by the Chairman of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry G. Chizhikov is currently in Uzbekistan.

 

As partk of the visit of the Ukrainian delegation, the first meeting of the Uzbek-Ukrainian Business Council and a joint Business Forum are being held today, May 19.

 

The topic of the event was the issues of strengthening bilateral ties between the business communities of the two countries, as a decisive factor in the further development of investment and trade and economic Uzbek-Ukrainian cooperation.

 

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine E. Yenin, President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry G. Chizhikov, co-chairman of the Uzbek-Ukrainian Business Council from Ukraine O. Revchuk are taking part at the meeting, including 60 Ukranian companies.

 

Representatives of Uzbekistan were First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan F. Syddykov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan A. Ikramov, co-chairman of the Uzbek-Ukrainian Business Council from the Republic of Uzbekistan Z. Khoshimov, as well as representatives of responsible ministries, departments and the business community.

 

In 2020, the volume of mutual trade amounted to $ 437.9 million (+ 14.1%), including exports - $ 122.8 million (+ 2.8%), imports - $ 315.2 million. dollars (+ 19.2%). As of April 1, 2021, 129 enterprises with the participation of Ukrainian capital operate in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan, of which 72 joint ventures and 57 individual entrepreneurs.

The parties noted the importance of the role of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the two countries in the establishment and deepening of intergovernmental cooperation between Uzbekistan and Ukraine. During the Business Council, the parties confirmed their interest in building up interaction, including by promoting mutually beneficial contacts between business circles and economic structures. The importance of intensifying exchanges in the tourism and trade spheres was also highlighted.

 

An open dialogue identifies areas of mutual interest for further in-depth interaction, meaning the elaboration of promising projects and agreements, as well as the definition of an effective format for interaction between the business circles of Uzbekistan and Ukraine.
