Tashkent granted «Observer» status to the World Alliance International Financial Centres

On the 19th - 22nd of October 2022 during the General Meeting of Directors Council of the World Alliance of International Financial Centres in Casablanca (Kingdom of Morocco) on the initiative of the Agency of Strategic Reforms under the President of Uzbekistan the issue of Tashkent participation as an international financial centre in the Alliance activity and obtaining of "observer" status by Tashkent in the Alliance was discussed.

On the 21st of October, 2022 during the general meeting of Alliance's Board of Directors, by majority of Alliance's Board of Directors members' votes, Tashkent has received the status of "observer" of the World Alliance of International Financial Centres. The status of official representative of Tashkent as an international financial centre was granted to SIA.

The participation of Tashkent as an international financial centre in the Alliance activities implies:

Formation of a pool of international partners to support the activities and development of the Tashkent International Financial Centre. Access to the expertise of the Alliance member financial centres;
Participation in working groups of Alliance, joint projects of Alliance members in the field of development and digitalization of financial market, realization of investment policy goals;
Promotion of investment potential of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Development of cooperation between TMFC and financial centres of the Alliance members in order to expand the number of international investors (from among the residents of the centres) to intensify the process of attracting investments to the Republic of Uzbekistan;
Elaboration of strategic partnerships and joint projects with the financial centres of the Alliance member-countries for development of financial market and business environment, foreign economic cooperation with the Alliance member countries.
Elaboration and reaching agreement on holding a special meeting of the Alliance and organizing visit of heads of administrations of financial centres of the Alliance members to Tashkent during the II Tashkent International Investment Forum (April 2023).
For reference: World Alliance of International Financial Centers is an international non-commercial organization, which unites specialized organizations of financial industry. WAIFC serves as a basic platform for cooperation between leading global financial centres to develop common approaches to creating an enabling environment and infrastructure for the development of the financial sector, taking into account the digitalisation process.
