«Termez International Trade Center» - new opportunity for economic relations of Uzbek-Afghan nations

On October 14 this year at the "Congress Hall" of Tashkent city the presentation of opportunities created in the territory of free trade zone "Termez International Trade Center" was held. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Olimhon Rustamov, heads of ministries, departments, industry associations and commercial banks, Afghan businessmen working in Uzbekistan, as well as about 600 representatives of major enterprises, manufacturers and exporters.

The agenda focused on issues such as development of entrepreneurship in the International Trade Center Termez, opportunities and preferences created in the Center for neighboring Afghan and foreign businessmen as well as increasing the export-import turnover.

The management of the ITI presented the opportunities created in the free trade zone "Termez International Trade Center", the investment climate and modern infrastructure solutions. It was noted that foreign guests would be able to travel to the center without a visa for 10 days, there is an opportunity to purchase stores, conduct retail and wholesale trade, as well as to rent trading areas for 4-5 months free of charge. It was stressed that the "Termez International Trade Center" is a doorway to greater opportunities and further strengthening of trade and economic relations for the Uzbek and Afghan peoples.

The presentation program also included B2B meetings, where businessmen from the two countries were able to exchange contacts and discuss priority areas for cooperation as well as prospects for new joint projects.

For information: Full-fledged work of the center will allow increasing the volume of trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan up to 1.2 billion dollars a year. Up to 90 percent of all products sent to the Afghan market can go through the center.
