Textile and apparel knitwear: 340 projects launched, valued at US$2.9 billion

The Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan led by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Jamshid Khodjaev held an open dialogue with producers and exporters of textile and garment knitwear production of the country on 26 September.
For information. Between 2017 and 2022, 340 projects worth $2.9 billion were launched in the sector, total cotton fiber processing capacity was created, resulting in a 64 trillion soums increase in output - up to five times, exports quadrupled to $2.9 billion, exports geography reached 66 countries, and the total number of jobs in the sector increased from 124,000 to 378,000.
The meeting, attended by representatives of over a hundred companies, discussed in detail the systemic problems hindering further development of the textile and clothing industries, and the issues facing businesses in their operations.
In particular, issues related to the supply of raw materials, increase in exports, introduction of international standards in production were raised, and constructive proposals for their elimination were developed.
Responsible managers have been instructed to develop centralised measures to address all aspects of entrepreneurs' problems and systematically improve the situation in the area.
