The 14th International Chess Tournament is taking place in Tashkent

Deputy Prime Minister-Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov and 17-time world champion Rustam Kasimjonov spoke at the opening ceremony. This tournament is dedicated to the memory of the first international grandmaster of Uzbekistan G.T. Agzamova.

The total prize fund of the tournament is 25,000 US dollars and is held according to the Swiss system in 9 rounds in two groups - in the main group “A” for participants with a rating of 1800 and above, and in group “B” for participants with a rating below 1800.

Khusan Turdialiyev was appointed the chief judge of the competition. Judges from Russia, Iran, and Tajikistan also expressed their desire to take part. Young chess players will have the opportunity to fulfill the requirements for obtaining international titles of international grandmasters, masters of sports of international class and masters of sports of the FIDE category.

"From now on, chess competitions will be organized at the interregional level, regional departments of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports are ready to assist in the opening and operation of new chess clubs and chess schools in the regions," Aziz Abdukhakimov said in his speech.
