The construction of the Sherabad solar power plant has been started

On June 1, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in the Surkhandarya region and visited the construction site of a solar photovoltaic station in the Sherabod region.


In connection with the important role of solar energy, in the current conditions of limited traditional energy resources, it was decided to build a solar photovoltaic station in Sherabad region. Within the framework of the project, an area of ​​601 hectares was selected, the capacity of the station will be equal to 457 MW, it is also planned to build a new substation with a voltage of 220 kW and a 52-kilometer transmission line to connect to the Surkhon substation.


The project was implemented by Masdar, which offered the lowest tariff. Financial and technical advice was provided by the Asian Development Bank.


In honor of the construction of the photovoltaic station, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan laid a capsule. This ceremony was attended by representatives of the older generation, Vice-President of the Asian Development Bank Ashok Lavasa and the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the UAE Suheil al-Mazrui.


The launch of this major project is slated for August 2023.
