The delegation of Uzbekistan took part in the 15th Central Asia-Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum

The delegation of Uzbekistan led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Norov attended the 15th Central Asia-Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum in Busan (Republic of Korea) on October 25.

Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Republic of Korea, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan discussed priority aspects of cooperation through introducing the best practices of Korea in ensuring socio-economic development and prosperity of Central Asian region.

The forum participants noted its particular importance this year, marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Central Asian states and the Republic of Korea, as well as the 15th anniversary of this form of cooperation.

In his speech, the Uzbek foreign minister stressed the relevance of establishing multilateral cooperation in traditional medicine, digitalization, ecology, tourism and economic security, which are essential components of post-pandemic recovery, as well as joint efforts to overcome the crisis and ensure sustainable growth of the region's economies.

The forum participants were briefed on the conceptual significance of the Samarkand Solidarity Initiative for Common Security and Well-Being, launched by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The forum included separate sessions in a hybrid format with the participation of industry ministries and agencies from Central Asia and the Republic of Korea, as well as a regular meeting of the Central Asian-Korean Business Council and a tourism exhibition. The forum resulted in the adoption of a Joint Statement.
