The Global Terrorism Index for 2023 is announced. What place is Uzbekistan in?

The tenth annual edition of the Global Terrorism Index (GTI) shows that attacks have become even more devastating, with 26 percent more people killed in each incident - the first increase in deaths in five years.

Afghanistan topped the ranking for the fourth consecutive year as the worst-hit country.

Uzbekistan was ranked 70th (with a 2022 deterioration in its performance). Tajikistan, on the other hand, is in 50th place. Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan share 93rd place.

For reference. Uzbekistan was ranked 125th in the index in 2016 and 132nd in 2019.
