The leather and shoes industry is one of the drivers of regional development

The "Elegant shoes and" shoe company in the Shahrikhan district is a prime example of a booming business with the right attention and support. The entrepreneur, who started out as a shoemaker, has kept his workshop in a small building for the last four years. Last year, he used his own funds to expand his business and set up a new enterprise worth $8 million. A four-storey complex was built with a view to future development.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took a tour of the enterprise. Equipment from Turkey and China has been installed here, and Turkish designers and technologists have been brought in. On the first stage, 60 different types of footwear and leather goods have been launched. Some 500 people are currently employed here. A similar number of jobs will be created at the second stage.

The main objective of the enterprise is exports. This year it plans to bring the sales abroad to $4 million. The entrepreneur said that he wants to enter the European market. In this regard, the Head of State has given relevant instructions to those in charge.

"The leather industry is also becoming a driver, the number of such enterprises is growing. Now it is necessary to provide them with guaranteed raw materials. Secondly, it is important to provide orders to women sitting at home. In general, with proper support for such advanced enterprises, it is possible to turn them into a cluster," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
