The new terminal of Samarkand International Airport, worth $ 80 million, has opened its doors

On March 18, 2022, the grand opening of the new terminal of the International Airport took place in Samarkand.

The first flight of Samarkand Airport through the new terminal was Uzbekistan Airways flight HY-045/046, which flew from Tashkent to Samarkand and back again. This successful flight has become a new page in the history of modern aviation in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The construction of the new terminal is worth $ 80 million, the first of its kind in the history of Uzbek aviation as a result of a public-private partnership agreement signed between Uzbekistan Airports (a public partner) and AIR MARAKANDA (a private partner). It was implemented by Enter Engineering, a leading EPC contractor in Uzbekistan, based on an architectural solution developed by the Turkish Cyclops Design and Engineering Company.

The opening ceremony was attended by more than 250 people. Achilbay Ramatov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ilhom Mahkamov, Minister of Transport, Erkinjon Turdimov, Governor of Samarkand Region, Rano Juraeva, Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Airports, and Khilmi Yilmaz, Deputy General Director for Operations of AIR MARAKANDA addressed the ceremony.
