The Organization of Turkic States reacted to the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajikistan border

The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States made a statement regarding the situation on the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. According to him, the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) expressed serious concern about the ongoing armed conflicts on the Kyrgyz-Tajikistan border and called for an immediate ceasefire and a political and diplomatic solution to the conflict around the negotiating table.

The statement also noted that the OTS condemns the aggression with the use of heavy military weapons against civilians and civilian infrastructure, including public schools, and calls for maximum restraint and to take immediate measures to contain the incident and de-escalate using available peaceful means.

The Organization of Turkic States closely monitors the situation and supports the efforts of the Kyrgyz Republic, which is the founder of the OTS, to resolve the situation peacefully and reminded the importance of negotiations to ensure lasting peace and stability in Central Asia.
