The plan and agenda of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Samarkand were considered

On August 23, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev made a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilkham Aliev.

The issues of further development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries and strengthening of strategic partnership relations were considered.

Significant progress in the implementation of the agreements reached at the end of the high-level meetings held in June this year was noted with satisfaction.

In early August, the next meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission and the first meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, transport and trade of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Turkiye were effectively held.

This year, mutual turnover increased by 70%. The implementation of joint cooperation projects in agriculture, silk and textile industries, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry and other industries has begun. Work is underway to launch the Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan investment fund at a fast pace. The cultural and humanitarian exchange is expanding.

The heads of State noted that practical cooperation should be further developed. In this sense, the importance of holding the forum of the regions of the two countries and the exhibition of industrial potential next fall was noted.

Views were also exchanged on the regional agenda. The plan and agenda of the upcoming multilateral meetings, including the summits of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Organization of Turkic states in Samarkand, were considered.
