The president discussed the priorities of cooperation with the Secretary General of the OSCE

On November 17, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Secretary General of the organization for security and cooperation in Europe, Helga Schmid.

Issues of further development of cooperation in all three economic, political and humanitarian areas of activity of this organization were discussed with the OSCE.

At the next time, it was noted with satisfaction that contacts were activated, an open and constructive dialogue was developing.

This year, which marks 30 years of mutual cooperation, Uzbekistan was visited by the current chairman of the OSCE Zbigniew Rau and the High Commissioner for national minorities of the OSCE Kairat Abdurahmanov. Effective cooperation is underway with the Office of democratic institutions and Human Rights, the Parliamentary Assembly and the OSCE representative for media freedom.

Joint projects are being implemented in the framework of the strategy for the development of digital skills among young people and the fight against terrorism and extremism for the period until 2026.

During the conversation, it was noted that the expert support of the structures of the OSCE, especially in Uzbekistan, plays an important role in the continuation of democratic reforms and the development of civil society institutions.

It was noted the need to strengthen cooperation in the fields of Economics and ecology, to implement joint projects in the areas of “green” economy, digitalization, small business and ecology.

As the actual problems of regional and international security were discussed, special attention was paid to the situation in neighboring Afghanistan. It was agreed to carry out joint projects aimed at ensuring the significant humanitarian needs of the Afghan people.
