The purpose of the parliamentary inquiry is to create decent working conditions for women

At the twenty-ninth plenary session of the Senate, the implementation of the parliamentary request sent to the Cabinet of Ministers regarding the status of protection of women's labor rights in light industry and leather industry enterprises was considered.
As it was mentioned, certain works have been carried out in order to eliminate the problematic issues indicated in the parliamentary request. In particular, the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations, "Uztoqimaliksanoat" and "Uzcharmsanoat" associations have developed measures to eliminate problematic issues.
At the same time, the analysis of the Senate Committee on Women and Gender Equality, the studies of the working group consisting of senators, local councilors and specialists of relevant ministries and agencies conducted in the enterprises of the sector show that the implementation of the issues raised in the parliamentary inquiry is not fully ensured and a number of shortcomings and problems in the sector have not yet been resolved.
It is not possible to systematically listen to the reports of the competent state bodies regarding the work carried out on labor protection in industrial enterprises. It was found that 48% of women working in textile enterprises, 67% of women working in leather-industry enterprises earn 3-4 times less than the average monthly wage in other sectors of the economy.
During the discussions, the senators criticized the fact that the issues raised in the parliamentary inquiry were not thoroughly studied, and that no effective measures were taken to address the problems indicated in it, including creating comfortable and safe working conditions for women, paying them decent wages, and increasing the responsibility of employers. Also, the relevant decision of the Senate was adopted on this issue.
