The Secretary General of the OTS met with the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey

The Secretary General of the OTS Baghdad Amreev met with the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey Mehmet Nuri Ersoy on February 28, 2022 in Istanbul.

The sides exchanged views on cooperation in the field of culture of the Turkic world and the work to be executed in the long run.

Minister Ersoy canvassed in detail the ceremony of declaring Bursa the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2023 at the end of March, as well as the agenda of the “TURKSOY Permanent Council” meeting to be held in Bursa at the end of March.

The Ministerial Meeting in Bursa welcomed the appointment of Sultanbay Rayev, Acting Deputy Secretary General of the OTS, as the new Secretary General of TURKSOY. Former Kyrgyz Minister of Culture S. Rayev will replace Kazakh Ambassador Dusen Kaseinov, who headed the main cultural body of the Turkic world for 14 years.

The Minister noted that given the need to further intensify cooperation in the field of tourism between the CIS member states, the implementation of various projects in the field of tourism will play an important role and be effective in further developing economic activity in the Turkic world.

They also addressed the development of the tourism industry at a new stage and the issues to be considered at the 7th meeting of the Ministers of Tourism in Azerbaijan in 2022.

At the end of the event, the sides exchanged views on topical issues of the international and regional agenda and their impact on the CIS member states.
