The Tashkent Forum is an important platform for effective international dialogue

On July 26, 2022, within the framework of the international conference on "Afghanistan: security and economic development", the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov met with the Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General for Afghanistan, Markus Potsel, the head of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).
At the meeting, the current state and development prospects of Uzbekistan's cooperation with the UN and its institutions, in particular UNAMA, were discussed.
V. Norov gave detailed information about the large-scale reforms implemented within the framework of the development strategy of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026, which are fully in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
They exchanged views on the current situation in Afghanistan. M.Potsel highly appreciated the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to hold an international conference on Afghanistan. The conference will create an important basis for developing common approaches of the international community on providing humanitarian aid to the Afghan people and restoring the country's economy.
This conference once again confirms the important and unchanging role of Uzbekistan in regulating the situation in Afghanistan, and it is a proof that the contribution of Uzbekistan to the socio-economic and infrastructural reconstruction of Afghanistan is recognized by the international community.
According to the head of UNAMA, he noted that the Tashkent forum was an important platform for establishing an effective international dialogue on the implementation of the main demands of the world community by the Afghan government.
