The world's number one tennis player has retired

Ashley Barty of Australia, who is currently the world's number one tennis player in the WTA rankings, has announced her retirement.

"It's the first time I've talked about it," he said. It's very difficult. I no longer have the emotional desire to move to the highest level. I was very tired,” the athlete explained his decision.

Ashley Barty, 25, has won the Grand Slam three times so far: the French Open (2019), Wimbledon (2021) and the Australian Open (2022). He also has 15 WTA titles and a bronze medal in the mixed program of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

For information, Barty has been ranked number one in the world since 2019. He thus became only the second tennis player since Justin Enen (2008) to retire.
