Turkey's international name has officially changed

Turkey has been renamed "Türkiye" by the United Nations and in foreign languages. The name Türkiye is now used in various international forums and official documents to replace the various ethnonyms previously used (Turkey, Turkei, Turquie, etc.).

"United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has received a notification from the Turkish Foreign Minister to change its name. The name change will be put into practice from the moment this letter is received, "Guterres' spokesman Stefan Dujarric told Anadolu Agency.

Commenting on the tweet, Mevlut Cavusoglu, Turkish Foreign Minister, said he hoped the country's name change would be effective in boosting its image.
