Turkish business interested in implementation of projects in Uzbekistan

October 28 this year, during the visit of government delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Turkey, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Jamshid Hodjaev met with the head of the Turkish Housing Development Authority (TOKI) Omer Bulut and heads of several large Turkish companies: Ahmet Zengiz (Jengiz Holding), Hakki Akil (Çalık Holding), Zhuneit Uygun (AKSA Enerji). During the negotiations the sides discussed the progress of the joint projects underway and the perspectives for joint implementation of new investment initiatives.

During the conversation with Omer Bulut, the effective mechanism of social housing construction system used in Turkey was studied. The head of TOKI expressed readiness to provide all necessary assistance in introduction of Turkish experience to Uzbekistan.

Jengiz Holding board member Ahmet Jengiz discussed implementation of projects in energy sector of Uzbekistan. Management of the company has highly appreciated the opportunities created in our country for foreign investors and expressed interest in developing and implementing new promising projects in the chemical and mining industries, energy and construction.

The sides reviewed the implementation of the ongoing projects, which are worth 290 million USD, with Aksa Enerji board member Juneit Uygun. The sides expressed interest in participating in the construction and modernization of power stations and gas distribution systems in several regions of Uzbekistan, as well as in jointly setting up the production of power generators and building modern hotels in historical cities.

A similar discussion took place with Hakki Akil, a board member of Çalık Holding. The company is implementing a $250 million project in Uzbekistan to build a multi-purpose business centre. An agreement was reached to study and develop new projects in the field of renewable energy, as well as construction and reconstruction of medical facilities in Uzbekistan on the basis of public-private partnership.
