UN: The cholera spreading in Syria may threaten the entire region

It was reported that in the last three weeks, more than 900 cases of cholera were registered in Syria, and 8 people died from the disease. The UN has expressed its concern about this cholera, which was recorded in Syria for the first time in recent years. According to those in the organization, this disease can pose a threat to the entire region.
The disease is spread in Aleppo and Deir ez-Zor regions. It is believed that the plague was caused by people drinking water from the Euphrates River, which flows through the provinces and is used for agricultural production. The spread of the disease, as well as climate change and conflicts within the country, indicate that there is a shortage of water throughout Syria.
"The disease poses a serious threat to all people in Syria and the region. Urgent measures should be taken immediately to prevent cases of illness and death," said Imran Reza, UN humanitarian affairs coordinator in Syria.
According to the UN, humanitarian aid has already been delivered to medical facilities in affected and other dangerous areas. Clean drinking water is also being brought in trucks.
