UNESCO inaugurates «Tree of Peace» monument in Samarkand

A ceremony of unveiling the "Tree of Peace" monument was held today at the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage in Samarkand with participation of UNESCO Deputy Director General Stephanie Janini, UNESCO Special Ambassador for Cultural Diplomacy Hedva Ser, State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) Nils Annen and Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Aziz Abdukhakimov.
The author of the "Tree of Peace" monument is an outstanding sculptor Hedva Ser, whose works are known throughout the world.
It is worth noting that this monument, which has a symbolic meaning, was first established in Israel in 2008 in cooperation with UNESCO. Later it was also installed in Germany, USA, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Andorra, Greece, Malta and other countries. To date, the "Tree of Peace" exists in 17 countries. And the Samarkand "Tree of Peace" became the 18th "Tree of Peace". This monument is made of bronze and weighs 750 kilograms.
"One aspect caught my attention during the installation of the monument," said Ms. Hedva Ser. In Samarkand, four weeks was enough."
For the record, the widespread recognition of this work of art in the world is due to the fact that the author's sculptures combine symbols of the three leading religions - Judaism, Islam and Christianity.
