USAID has launched a $ 10 million US program to boost youth employment in Uzbekistan

The 5-year program will help attract graduates, girls and people with disabilities to work.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has launched a new five-year, $ 10 million US program to promote youth employment and entrepreneurship in Uzbekistan.

Launched in January, 2022, the initiative will enable students in grades 8-11 to gain the skills needed to enter the Uzbek economy as skilled professionals and entrepreneurs.

The program is designed to assist students find successful jobs, is implemented by the American Councils for International Education, and focuses on boosting the role of girls and people with disabilities in employment.

American Councils are actively involved in all aspects of this initiative, including the Department of Public Education, USAID's key education partner.
A team of international and local organizations was involved to implement the various components of the initiative. The list includes the project's technical partner, World Learning, an international organization with world experience in youth employment and entrepreneurship.

“Over the five years of the project, American Councils have worked with local experts to ensure that women and girls and people with disabilities are involved in the labor market to discern the specific needs of the market. The councils will assist government agencies and private sector companies that participate as consultants, trainers and interns” the report highlighted.
