USAID Ready to Enhance Cooperation with Uzbekistan

On December 12, 2022, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov held a meeting with the Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Samantha Power and the USAID Deputy Administrator Isabel Coleman.
The parties discussed the current state and prospects of interaction between Uzbekistan and USAID, the implementation of priority programs and projects.
During the conversation the head of USAID confirmed the firm commitment to render every kind of assistance in the implementation of objectives outlined in the Strategy for the New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026. In particular, it was reported about USAID intention to closely coordinate its efforts with the United States Development Finance Corporation (DFC), of which she is a member of the board of directors.
The head of USAID welcomed efforts of the Government of Uzbekistan to ensure open government, freedom of speech, development of civil society. It was underlined that this contributes to the wide consideration of the interests of society in the decision-making processes on important issues of socio-political and socio-economic life.
In turn, deputy head of USAID Isabel Coleman assured that the Agency will continue to implement projects of financial and technical assistance, above all, taking into account the priorities of Uzbekistan.
USAID leadership expressed readiness to assist in modernization of the energy sector, introduction of renewable energy sources, water sector development, improvement of education system, vocational training and professional development of young people.
