Uzbek-Chinese biotechnology cluster to be created in Syrdarya

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev put forward 5 new initiatives aimed at further improving the well-being of the inhabitants of the Syrdarya.
First, in the territory of advanced innovation, a special exemption regime will be introduced for projects in 20 areas of biopharmaceuticals, building materials, agriculture, food, electrical engineering, medicine, education:
• exempt from taxes on land, property, profits and turnover, as well as customs duties for up to 3 years;
• land plots are allocated in a simplified manner, up to 5 years in installments are allowed when purchasing land and premises;
• the rate of reimbursement of interest payments is increased by 2 times.
Also, the Uzbek-Chinese biotechnology cluster will be built in the Syrdarya at the expense of investments in the amount of $500 million. In this cluster, together with leading universities in China, the International Educational and Research University in Gulistan, a clinic for innovative medicine, the Central Asian Genome Center, and a cell therapy center for the treatment of oncological diseases will be created.
The cluster also produces modern diagnostic devices, innovative vaccines, probiotics and cancer drugs. Educational buildings, a modern campus, laboratories, and an engineering school will be created for 10,000 students.
