Uzbek-Pakistani political consultations

The 7th round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was held on February 28, 2022 in Islamabad.

The delegations were led by Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov and Deputy Foreign Minister of Pakistan Aftab Qurayshi.

During the talks, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of the multifaceted Uzbek-Pakistani strategic partnership.

The two sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in further accentuating cooperation in commercial, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The parties canvassed the implementation of major investment projects, in particular, the construction of the Termez-Mazar-e-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar railway.

They called for expanding cooperation in the field of Afghanistan, including humanitarian and other assistance to the Afghan people.

Other issues on the general agenda were also addressed during the political consultations, and a schedule of joint events was consented.
